Cakebread Wine... REALLY?!?

Now... I was a member at Cakebread in Napa Valley and I don't remember their wines costing so much... Is it a Gardiner, MT thing or what?!? And who is the wine connoisseur in this small little town that buys this?!? I MUST MEET THEM!!!

That darn Noxious Weed...

I had a LARGE Canada Thistle (Cirsium arvense) specimen in the yard. The neighbor noticed it and we discussed it over the fence, as neighbors do... apparently this LARGE specimen was of interest to the Park Service in Yellowstone. First and for most they wanted it properly destroyed and secondly they needed photo documentation for training needs. He contacted the head botanist and they came out for a house visit!!! SO EXCITING!!! I love that she was delighted to see such a fine specimen... I bet she took 200+ pics!!!

OH NATURE :)

When Animals Attach... cont.

So, the little firecracker got served a Trespassing Ticket... AWE. She proceeded to not understand the word NO!!! REALLY!?!?!? This one is a handful and I feel sorry for her boyfriend!!! But not really :) SO... she entered the bar twice after being told you are 86'ed and never come back. And the last time she came in, I was there and she said she just wanted to cash a check... bad move! The bar manager was there and on her in a matter of seconds!!! Yelling and pointing down at her fish lips. She mouthed off saying how he can't keep a women and on about him... this behavior will not win her an entry back into the bar anytime soon!!! And need less to say the deli followed suit and told he she was a liability, saying they really didn't need anymore wait staff... basically... YOU'RE FIRED!!! Good thing she has a second job as a waitress down at another restaurant... where they did send her home for being way to drunk. STAY OF THE JAGERMEISTER CRAZY LADY!!!

SO, The mountain man's thumb is healing up nicely... he has been taking a 'horse pill' antibiotic daily and will continue for 10 days. He's back to being nice and calm... and boy-oh-boy was he angry. Maybe some anger management classes are in his future... lol.

The cat was dropped off at the vet for a 10 day evaluation to see if it has rabies... I won't hear anything back on that for a few days. I need to call the vet tomorrow and check on his status.

I think that covers any drama follow up that was to be had... right?!?! or did i miss something?!?!?

Domestic Day in Gardiner....

Did a little graffiti painting to finish up with the living room... FU dat fol you.
And after did a little garden picking... oh what a domestic little day I had :)

A herd of ELK...

A herd of ELK... came to visit the Arch Park down in Gardiner and boy-oh-boy did the tourist show up for the show. They got so close it started to look like a petting zoo. Are they that dumb that they don't realize these are WILD ANIMALS!!! I couldn't stick around long enough to see if the elk got ornery and started grinding their teeth in discomfort. I was really hoping for a juicy youtube video!!! Maybe next time. He He.

WOW - WHEN ANIMALS ATTACK in Gardiner...

Even though yesterday wasn't a full moon... it sure felt like it!! The animals of Gardiner were in full force... and by that, I mean the local folks!!! DRAMA!!!

So, the day started just like any other day, seemed fine until lunch time hit when I got a call from the local bartender (dubbed 'the strange') telling me how rude and belligerent one of the locals was acting. And this is a local gal I know from the deli. I like her, and I understand sometimes people just have bad days and you're local bar is a great place to get drunk in efforts to medicate your pain and verbally vomit on your bartender. And I'm sure her unleashing on the bartender was uncalled for but SHIT happens and it's all how you deal with it I think. (and i mean this on both ends...) She ends up leaving and I think you could chalk it up to having 'a bad day' and let it pass. - Well the day doesn't end there. - This local gal is due at the deli to work the night shift waiting tables. Well, before she arrived at the deli... I got the 411, that she called the deli around lunch time and quit on the phone and was carrying on about how she can't work two jobs and so on... well, the deli owner called her back and calmed her down in her "poor me" moment. So, needless to say she didn't quit and she was at the deli on time but she showed up shit-faced. It was so bad, a replacement was called to fill her spot and she was released for the night. This was around 7pm... well she wasn't ready for home yet so she headed back to the bar for MORE. Maybe not the best idea but to an alcoholic, a sure fine one. The daytime bartender was off, kicking back a beer waiting on his to-go food from the restaurant next door, when he spotted her. He discussed her behaviour over with the bar manager that afternoon and they decided to 86 her from the bar. Basically they banned her until WHENEVER they feel fit to let her back in. Once she was notified of this and was refused service... she was PISSED. Threats were flying out of her mouth and she did some bad mouthing about the bartender and even said some stuff about me in her rage. Because she didn't take NO for an answer, the day-time bartender called the park rangers to have her tossed out. OH ME-OH MY. Two park rangers showed up moments later to deal with her... while they were trying to talk to her, she was ignoring them as she spoke to the bar manager trying to explain herself. Eventually the rangers got pissed by he lack of respect and yelled at her to leave. Now this gal is maybe 5 foot tall and is in her 50's... I'd describe her as a spicy little firecracker. Well, her rage didn't stop there... and mind you I'm not the fighting type. I like to logically work thing out and I try not to let my emotions get the best of me... even when this little firecracker comes by the deli to give me an ear full. She carried on how I need to tell that "grizzly adams mother effer to..." and how what happened this afternoon was a misunderstanding; going on and on about what she said she didn't mean and how she was kidding and that the whole thing was not directed at the bartender... bla-bla-bla... drama, drama, drama. Well, seeing that this wasn't my problem, I told her I was sorry this happened to her and i said it sounds like you're having 'a bad day', suggesting she speak with the bartender and manager the following day when she's cooled off. Well, this didn't seem to work... I was threatened (empty promises, I'm sure) and she swaggered off in a tiffy. Well that wasn't the end of that... she called the deli like four times to yell at me some more. NICE. THANKS, just what I love... D-R-A-M-A. So, I thought I should call the strange and let him know his problem has now become mine... debriefing him on the situation. After that, everything seamed to settle with that firecracker of a train wreak. She must have passed out... thank goodness!?!?!?!!!!

Well, that was the end of that for now but the night wasn't over... there were still more animals due to attack.

I got a call once again at the deli (good thing it was a slow night giving me time to deal with all this SHIZ-NIT) but this time it was from bartender strange... who at this point was having just as a bad day or maybe a worse day then the local firecracker gal. He called me to say my cat just bit him. OH GREAT, I thought. Mind you, my cat is almost 19 years old and in his life he's bit me once and it wasn't intentional. I was taking him to the vet and he was biting at his carrier and I just happened to have my hand at the wrong place at the wrong time. It was a minor injury, nothing big. Tiger Kitty is a lover, so for him to bit he must have felt threatened. I read on the Internet that cats don't bite for no reason. There had to be a reason... but what?!?! - I wasn't there. - So, when I was on the phone with the strange finding out this less then exciting news, he told be that tiger had taken a piss on the bathroom floor and that tiger may have been mad at him because he was eating and refused to share his meatballs with tiger. OK Well, tiger has been getting more then just table scraps lately because the strange started along this path of 'human food goodness' giving him mini meals of meat. I'm sure tiger grew accustom to that sort of treatment expecting it each time he smelt that yummy meat reminder. But still... it was the angry strange that cornered him in the bathroom to discipline kitty by getting in his face with his hand yelling at him. And like any threatened cat... there is a possibility they may attack. And being that tiger kitty was in a cat fight a few months ago, where he was REALLY AGITATED and got bitten himself, might not of helped his situation. SO - tiger kitty bit him, clear through the nail and thumb!!! WOHA. I didn't think old tiger kitty had it in him to do such damage. It was a pretty severe bite!!!! I feel really bad for the strange to have to endure such a traumatic and mainly painful encounter. Cat bites are painful and one that when through the nail and pierced through all the flesh of the thumb must be super painful. BUT, the only thing I can think... is he must have been REALLY-REALLY scared to cause that kind of damage!!! Which i got to see this morning, when the strange stopped by to use my park pass needed to get through the north gate of Yellowstone National Park. There is a medical clinic in Mammoth, which is the closest medical facility to Gardiner. He was on his way to get a physician to look at it. An hour or so later... I get the strange back knocking at my door with the bill in hand. And of course, I payed for it. Not only in cash but also emotionally... some how in his haste he neglected to think of me and how I've been rational and supportive. Never asking for much and always giving. After I payed him he went on to say that if it were his cat it would be dead and how he effen hates cats. He also informed me that the Montana Department of Live Stock will be calling to discuss the options i have regarding ruling out the possibility of my cat having rabies. GREAT. I want to do the right thing and be supportive but... once again... IT'S NOT MY FAULT!!! - I don't deserve such duress!!! - Guess you shouldn't corner a cat in a threatening manor... maybe? really?

Well, the strange made it off to work on time and gave me a call a little bit ago informing me how the little firecracker came by the bar twice already and that he had to call the cops on her. He said she was coming by to apologize and he told her that she was trespassing. He also went on about those types of people and how their apologies are empty and that their behavior wont stop and how the longer in life they drink it gets amplified. Seriously... i don't know these types of people. after a while he managed to calm down a bit from this morning and even said how this problem with this local chick and the cat situation wasn't my fault. I have to say, that was nice to hear considering this drama in my life was brought on solely by him. I pride myself in living a drama free life and dealing with conflict diplomatically. (my self-righteous soap-box) He also said that her boyfriends brother came into the bar telling him that she was looking for my cell phone number. And added that's why he was calling me; to warn me that the drama may continue. As we were on the phone... I did get a call from her. So, once I hung up with him I gave her a call back. She was very apologetic and was sorry for her child like actions and wanted to tell me this because she knew she was wrong and understood it wasn't me she was angry with. NICE. She also went on how her boyfriend, who also works up at the deli in which I know just was well as her, informed her that she had no right to take out her anger on me and that her actions warranted an apology. I thank him for getting involved and talking some sense into her. I just hope the strange will come around and cool his jets. But time will tell on that one and having a cat bite reminder of this waterfall of drama sure wont help him to heal fast. And due to all this, the strange is no longer... c'est la vie.

Another hat complete... this one is for my vegan friend.

I have attempted to make this hat on 3 separate occasions... each time using different vegan friendly yarn. There isn't much out there that isn't wool or a wool blend. My first attempt was with a cotton and that looked like a dishrag. So I took that apart and thought about adding a thin acrylic in with it to giving it some interest. It just ended up looking like a more interesting dishrag!! BOO. I moved on and got an acrylic yarn that I thought would look nice... but it turned out to be yarn from hell!!! I hold my yarn pretty tight when I knitt and this yarn I kept pulling part... I got so fed up that I tossed my project and the yarn in the trash!!! It wasn't until recently that I came across 2 HALF-WAY DECENT yarn stores in Bozeman; where I found this acrylic yarn that ultimately worked out for me. I ended up using the same simple pattern that I did before... I was trying out a new pattern that had these cable v's for vegan BUT... it just wasn't working out for me... maybe I'll give it another shot now that I found a good acrylic yarn.
